About Us

The Kinsbourne Common Nursery and Pre-School is Ofsted registered for children between eighteen months and five years of age.  We are situated in the North of Harpenden, adjacent to beautiful common land and conveniently located with ample parking facilities. There is access to both indoor and outdoor provision on a daily basis.

Our ethos is that children should learn through play where there will be scope for them to use their imagination and develop skills appropriately.  The children are supported by a team of highly qualified and dedicated staff within a friendly, caring and stimulating environment. We comply with the revised Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (DfE, 2021) where we work closely with parents/carers and regularly update them on their child’s progress.  In line with this, we also provide access to government funding when children become eligible and are able to accept a range of voucher schemes. Please see the following government link in respect of the funding criteria for two to four year olds:-

Should you be eligible for government funding, the 'Parent declaration form - free early education for two, three and four year olds' can be downloaded using this link and returned to Deborah Campbell  when appropriate.

Government guidance in respect of 'The Early Years Pupil Premium Scheme' introduced to help disadavantaged three and four year olds is also available here.

A copy of our information letter on The Early Years Pupil Premium scheme is provided via this link.

We run four full day sessions a week (Monday-Thursday -  9.15am-3.30pm) and one half day session (Friday - 9.15am-12.15pm) with the option of a lunch club up until 1.15pm (Monday-Thursday).  Breakfast Club every day (8.30am-9.15am).   Four of our  sessions run from St Mary’s Church Hall.  Our Tuesday session entitled ‘Kinergy’ operates from the 9th Harpenden Scout Hut (The Kinsbourne Common Hall) which is immediately adjacent to St Mary’s Church Hall.  This session runs at the same time.

We consider the welfare, learning and all-round development of children with different backgrounds and levels of ability, including those with special educational needs and disabilities.  Should your child have a special educational need, please see our Local Offer link situated at Hertfordshire Directory’s website as outlined below :-
